 There were Filipinos in America since 1578. Did you know that a Filipino is one of the pioneering "founding settlers" of the city now called Los Angeles? Did you know that there were Filipinos in New Orleans since 1763? Ms. Eloisa Gomez Borah, in her book called, "Chronology of Filipinos in Pre-America 1898," shows evidences of Filipino presence in America since 1578. Click here to read a short list of the chronology of early Filipinos settlers with documented historical facts, all of which occurred prior to the so-called "first wave" of Philippine immigration to the U.S. and prior to the 1898 date when the Philippines became a U.S. territory; includes links to referenced information available on the Internet.
